the railway area of central Lahti
Analyzing the site we saw some important necessities. These are : the need of a hyper intermodal node, the need of a hyper bridge, a simbolic second ‘home’ , a simbolic birth certificate, the need to revitalize nature’s monuments, the need of identifying the national symbolic figure Jean Sybelius , the need of a hyper green structure, the need of a new relieves.
From being the ‘birth place’ of the city, the railway became a barrier , a fracture.
With our project we are looking for a new identity in the city, an urban lounge that connects North and South bringing a new life with new functions.
It will be a reactive “organism” that grows step by step filing and fulfilling the needs of the city.
Considering the e Seven Bridges of Königsberg problem solved by Euler, we also connected the new points of interest with bridges and alleys for pedestrians and bicycles.
Starting with a few points, the new organism will develop itself.
Each new point will connect with the others and create new routes. Each point will be multi-functional.
